After a hiatus of seven years since her Grammy-winning project “El Dorado,” Shakira has made a striking return with her new album, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” (Women No Longer Cry).
The album’s title and artwork suggest a theme of empowerment, perhaps inspired by personal experiences, including her separation from Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué. Shakira further explores this theme in the music video for “Puntería,” featuring Cardi B, which coincided with the album’s release.
Cardi B, in a recent interview on the Million Dollaz Worth Of podcast, revealed her longstanding desire to collaborate with the Colombian singer, expressing her excitement about the opportunity: “I always wanted to do a record with Shakira and it’s like, wow, it landed on my lap.”
The album comprises 17 tracks, including a Tiësto remix of “Bzrp Music Sessions Vol. 53” and a vinyl version of “Puntería.”
Shakira’s latest offering features a diverse lineup of collaborators, including Latin trap sensation Rauw Alejandro on “Cohete” and regional Mexican group Grupo Frontera on “(Entre Parentésis).”
Among the tracks are previously released singles like the emotive “Copa Vacía” featuring Manuel Turizo, the introspective “Monotonía” with Ozuna, and the heartfelt “Acróstico” featuring Shakira’s sons.
The album promises a captivating musical journey with its fusion of styles and impactful collaborations, solidifying Shakira’s status as a versatile artist in the music industry.
