Sony India has launched its premium Walkman NW-ZX707 for Indian customers. Stated as the Signature Walkman, it boasts a 5-inch display with an enhanced battery life of up to 25 hours, Wi-Fi connectivity, and much more. Let’s get into pricing, features, and related details.

Features

The device supports Wi-Fi connectivity for easy downloads and music streaming and upon a single charge, it can give a total of up to 25 hours of playback time. It comes with 64GB internal storage and a USB Type-C port and takes close to 3.5 hours to charge. The walkman has a headphone stereo mini Jack, balanced standard Jack, and Micro SD for external memory. Users can also enjoy multiple sound effects that Direct Source, 10 Band Equalizer, DSEE Ultimate, DC Phase Lineraizer, Dynamic Normalizer, and Vinyl Processor. A portable audio player with a premium look, Sony states that the product uses a high-quality component that enhances its sound quality. Some of the components like gold-clad solder, dual clock, film capacitor, and no use of plastic in the packaging (contributing to the sustainable growth) together further enhances the sound experience.

Furthermore, the devices integrate a DSD remastering engine for resampling Pulse Code Modulation into 11.2 MHz direct stream digital. It is also equipped with S-Master HX digital amp technology which is compatible with the existing DSD format. Together it effectively, as per Sony, reduces distortion and noise across a wide range of frequencies.

Adding to it, the all-new Sony Walkman NW-ZX707 boasts features like Edge-AI (Artificial Intelligence), and DSEE Ultimate i.e. Digital Sound Enhancement Engine which upscales the compressed digital music files, and the algorithm now delivers CD-like quality of lossless codec audio.

Though the features look premium and so does the pricing and with Sony trying its best to compete with Apple in the segment, it is yet to be seen how well it would be received by the Indian consumers given the preference of smartphones over Walkman as per the current trend.
